What is e-ticket?

E-ticket is a combined electronic ticket enabling the use of the most convenient and up-to-date way of paying for public transport services. It was introduced in Riga public transport on May 1, 2009 and is valid in all means of public transportation operated by "Rīgas satiksme".

The implementation of the system did not change tariffs and enables the fare discounts granted by Riga City Council to be used more conveniently. Only the way of paying fare has changed.

E-ticket allows its users to save time spent on buying tickets, it eliminates the problem of paper ticket supply in retail trade, and there is no need to use cash to pay fare in public transport. A ticket loaded onto e-ticket is valid for 12 months from the moment of purchase, except the cases when tariffs change, the type of ticket is cancelled and a transition period is set by "Rīgas satiksme".

How to use e-ticket?

When entering a public transport vehicle – a bus, a trolleybus or a tram, apply e-ticket to an electronic validator to register your trip and to pay the fare. Passengers enjoying 100 percent fare discount also have to register their trips.

Electronic validators are installed inside the vehicles – buses, trolleybuses and trams and register fare payments.
